Broadcasting Scholarships

The Ohio Association of Broadcasters, through its Ohio Broadcasters Foundation, annually awards scholarships to college students interested in pursuing a career in broadcasting. The Ohio Broadcasters Scholarship Program will make available three scholarships annually. The awards for the 2010-2011 academic year are as follows:
- Two $3,000 scholarships to a junior or senior student enrolled in a fully accredited program of instruction that emphasizes radio or television broadcasting or communications at a four-year college or university in Ohio. One of these scholarships is designated for a minority or female student. These scholarships may be renewed for a second year (if applicable) if satisfactory progress has been made.
Payment will be made directly to the educational institution and must be applied toward tuition costs for coursework associated with degree program of study.
Applicants must meet these criteria:
- Resident of Ohio
- Enrolled as a full-time student at an Ohio college, university, community or two-year college.
- Applicants from four-year colleges or universities must be entering their 3rd or 4th year.
- Working toward a major or minor in the school’s radio or television broadcasting or communications program
- Minimum grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent
- Application must be signed by department head certifying the applicant meets the eligibility criteria
Information on applying for the 2011-2012 academic year scholarships will be available in early 2011.

OAB Kids Scholarship

The Ohio Association of Broadcasters, through the Ohio Broadcasters Foundation, will annually award one OAB Kids Scholarship in the amount of $1,500 to a child of a full-time employee of an OAB member station.
The scholarship is available to any student who meets the following criteria:
- A high school senior who is a child of a full-time employee of an OAB member station (in continuous fulltime employment at least one year prior to the filing of the application).
- The applicant must plan to enroll in any post secondary institution (four-year college or university, two-year community college, vocational or technical school) for the 2009-2010 academic year. The institution may be public or private, and located in Ohio or out-of-state.
- The applicant’s major or field of study is not a determining factor for the scholarship.
- This scholarship is a one-time award. However, recipients are not precluded from applying for scholarships through the Ohio Broadcasters Scholarship Program, provided they meet scholarship eligibility requirements.
Information on applying for the 2011-2012 academic year scholarship will be available in early 2011.
