Ohio’s radio and television stations provide weather and other emergency alerts to their listeners and viewers. Many of these alerts, including the AMBER Alert, are broadcast using the Emergency Alert System (EAS).
Ohio’s AMBER Alert plan was established in 2003 to law enforcement with a tool to assist in the recovery of an abducted child. The plan provides protocols for activation of statewide or multi-area AMBER Alert activations.
Information about the Ohio AMBER Alert plan, including the criteria required for activation, is available at www.ohioAMBERplan.org. The public can also register to receive notification of AMBER Alerts in their area via email or cell phone.
