Update on HD Radio Power Increase

Gary Liebisch, Regional Sales Manager – Eastern U.S., Nautel

The FCC appears poised to act on a recommendation by NPR Labs and the "Joint Parties" to raise the allowed HD Radio digital level by 6 dB. The implications of this increase will be discussed, with respect to safeguards against interference, and options for stations to take immediate advantage of the increase. There also has been a development in new iBiquity software that will allow for an HD4 channel (i.e. a THIRD multicast channel). We will discuss how a station can potentially run 4 channels.
