ABIP Inspection Program

The OAB, in cooperation with the FCC, has established the Alternative Broadcast Inspection Program (ABIP) to help stations ensure that they are in compliance with FCC regulations. OAB members receive a significant discount on their inspection fees. The OAB’s ABIP operates pursuant to an agreement between the OAB and the FCC’s Enforcement Bureau.

Under this program, a station receives an inspection from the OAB’s designated ABIP inspector. This inspection is comparable to an official FCC field office inspection. If the station is certified to be in compliance with the FCC’s technical rules, it is exempt from routine inspections by the FCC Field Office for three years.

To register for an OAB ABIP inspection, use our online 2010 ABIP application or print, complete and return the PDF version of the 2010 ABIP application to the OAB office (fax 614-228-8133). If you have questions about this program, please contact the OAB’s Director of Operations, Patti Geary at pgeary@oab.org or toll-free at 866-OAB-5794.

OAB members can also contact the FCC and Engineering Hotlines for answers to inspection-related questions.
