2:00 p.m. Breakout Session for Radio, 7th Annual Ohio Broadcast Engineering Conference

Implementing and Benefiting from Station ‘Now Playing’ Data for HD Radio, RDS and Beyond

Patrick Campion, Sales Manager - Midwest Region, ENCO

Showing your listeners the title and artist currently playing is a great start, but it’s only a start. In the ever changing environment of metadata collection and distribution for terrestrial radio broadcasters, what types of data currently exist and what delivery methods are available? This presentation will delve into the past, present and possible future scenarios of how properly gathered and formatted data can enhance traditional broadcasts and lead to alternate means of revenue generation. Included will be details on locally generated data, rebroadcasted data streams from internet and satellite sources and other scheduled data.

About the speaker

After spending several years behind the mic, Patrick Campion decided to get into the technical side of the radio industry and originally joined ENCO in their technical support department in 1999. For the past decade he has spent most of his time finding ways to make automation systems integrate more fluidly into the on-air environment, and, as ENCO’s Director of Product Development, Patrick has helped guide the company to software innovations such as RAMA and Presenter. Drawing on the experience of consulting with and training thousands of broadcasters at hundreds of radio stations, Patrick has worked with the talented team at ENCO to keep them at the forefront of the automation business. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from St. Mary’s College of Orchard Lake and a Trade Certificate in Radio Broadcasting from Specs Howard School of Broadcast Arts.
