The One-Day Storytelling Bootcamp

The One-Day Storytelling Bootcamp - A News Seminar

Saturday, April 5 -- 9:00am - 4:30pm
Quest Business Center, north Columbus

With the presidential primary behind us, it’s time to get registered for the OAB/OAPB Spring News Seminar!

“The One-Day Storytelling Bootcamp” will be on Saturday, April 5th from 9:00am -4:30pm at the Quest Business Center in north Columbus.

We’re delighted to welcome Al Tompkins of the Poynter Institute and Les Rose of CBS News to Ohio for a storytelling bootcamp. Al and Les did this session at last year’s RTNDA convention in Las Vegas, and it was the highest rated session of the convention.

The morning session will provide you tips on developing clearer and stronger stories, including how to focus your story, find and develop memorable characters, and how to get great soundbites from practically anybody.

In the afternoon, Al and Les will conduct concurrent breakout sessions with Al providing great research tips for your stories, and Les focusing on how to “do great light.” The final session will focus on ethics in the edit room and the principles that should guide your editing decisions.

Then, Al and Les have agreed to provide critiques and coaching. So, bring your tapes and get feedback from the best in the business!

By the end of the day, you’ll be exhausted, but we guarantee it will have been worth your time!

Early bird registration is only $25, so register today!
